About 300 students at Mineral Ridge Middle School had some laughs Friday morning, while getting an important message in the process.
Husband and wife comedy team Stephen and Stephanie Brubaker brought their show Stephen and Other Dummies to the school. The unique show uses prop comedy and impressions to help get the message out that bullying has long-term effects.
The two say getting a child's attention through laughter truly helps get the message across.
"I know we're talking about it so much, I mean, there's so many people talking about it on TV about the problem we have," Stephen Brubaker said. "I just think to get their attention, instead of having a chalk board and saying 'don't bully, be nice to each other,' first we have a good time, get them laughing and then they'll listen to anything you say."
Stephen and Other Dummies tours schools across the country with the message. They say they've impacted more than 8-million junior and senior high school students.
If you or your child is a victim of bullying, there is a local website that can help.
The Help Hotline Crisis Center launched a new website for teens. It covers topics such as bullying, cyber safety and dating violence.
Austintown Schools and the Ohio Department of Health are also helping with the website. You can check it out for yourself at
