Jim Traficant is one step closer to seeing his name on the November ballot.
Monday, Traficant supporters will have a formal meeting with the Mahoning County Board of Elections to discuss signatures the board declared invalid.
On Friday, supporters got a head start and approved an additional 27 signatures.
After Monday's meeting, they'll turn the signatures over to the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
Board member Mark Munroe said he predicts the former Congressman will appear on the ballot.
"I understand the only issue in controversy is required signatures. If we're able to certify those signatures, there's no reason he won't be certified by the Trumbull County Board of Elections Tuesday or Wednesday," said Munroe.
If the signatures go through, Traficant will appear on the ballot as an Independent and face Republican Jim Graham and incumbent Democrat Tim Ryan in November.
