Teenage Boy Drowns in Stoneboro Lake

A boy in his early teens was pronounced dead Friday afternoon after being pulled from Stoneboro Lake in Mercer County.

According to Mercer County 911 Dispatch reports, the boy disappeared under water. Stoneboro and Sandy Lake fire departments responded and dive teams from Mercer and Crawford counties were called, but lifeguards were able to find the boy and pull him from the water before they arrived.

The boy was taken to UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, where he was pronounced dead.

He was from the Philadelphia area, but his identity has not yet been released.
