A Columbiana County family recently jumped into the maple syrup industry and they're now seeing demand grow for their product.

Last year, Rich Berg of Negley started tapping the maple trees on his property off of Pancake Clarkson Road. Berg and his family produced about 30 gallons of maple syrup this year, which was picked up by the Whole Foods Store in Pittsburgh.

But Berg said he's also staying local, selling his homemade granola and syrup at the downtown Youngstown Farmers Market.

"I was lucky enough to meet a gentleman that said we have no local maple syrup and it was Whole Foods in Pittsburgh," Berg said. "And I was able to, it was my first order they bought four cases and they said it's going pretty good."

Berg also brings his products to a farmers market in Cleveland.
