A North Lima man is in critical condition after overturning his motorcycle early Saturday morning.

Paul Heimes, 54, was heading east on Interstate 80 in Canfield just before 2:30 this morning.

He was trying to exit onto the state route 11 ramp when he lost control on a curve.

Heimes was taken to St. E's.

The State Highway Patrol says speed was a factor in the crash.

Yeah Fed Up, I know just how you feel. whenever I see the operator of a cage 'not suffer too many permanent injuries' because they got in over their head or were just doing something dumb, I too give God an AttaBoy. Get them off the street, God. We don't need them. Now, go away FedUp. TO FED-UP-LIKE-YOU: You speak the truth, people getting in over their heads. Use to be a new rifer would start on a one lung or a vert twin. Now peoples first bikes are high powered sports bikes and 800 to 1000 pound behemoths. No freaking wonder bikes get away from them. And the Squids ... These Kids think if they have gotten away with their trick riding makes them skilled, and they think only those without skills can be Squids. They don't seem to understand that misbehaving on the street makes them a Squid. AND, in toto, all these people don't understand how being able to handle and control a bike is only a small part of being a good rider. TO BIKER MIKE: LMAO!! Yeah, "Sometimes you get there faster if you go slow." Yeah, it took me years to learn that one too. Shave a few minutes off a ride by going fast, But then watch the clock run backwards when LEO is writing me a ticket. Or sometimes you don't get there at all.

We've all been on these posts tossing smack at each other but this is actually getting out of control. I ride, support riders, but I see it everyday, be it while in my car, or on the bike riding. Too many bikers trying to show-off in many instances. Seems like we have a few too many inexperienced riders and that is a concern to me as well. You have to have respect for the bike and know your limitations. Fedup, I feel you are losing some of your edge on this and that is appreciated. The entire picture is everyone is in a hurry and not looking for the bikes, AND we have bikers riding over their heads. You hear the bikes all hours of the day. If you ride you can listen to the speed of a bike based on your knowledge of bikes. At any given minute you can hear guys ramping it up to 60-80 mph on Market Street in Boardman. That is insane and irresponsible, and Biker Mike would agree with me 100% in these statements. We need to check oursleves and get there in one piece without roadrash!!!

Wildfire, I agree. I have never been a fan of motorcycles on public roads/highways, especially when folks don't wear helmets. I hope this guy will be ok and not suffer too many permanent injuries.

Sometimes you get there faster if you go slow.It took me a long time and many many car accidents to learn that lesson.I hope this rider gets back in the saddle and rides again.More safely of course. We need all the bikes on the road we can get.More cycles on the road makes the people in cars more aware of us.Get well my brother, and hope to be waving to you soon.Later,Mike
