The parking lot of Super Kmart in Boardman was filled with cars on the Thanksgiving holiday, and the folks there said they were not surprised.
"This is one of our busiest days of the year, except for Black Friday," said Edward Stredney, the store's assistant manager.
Stredney said many people decided to come out on the holiday because most of the deals were only good on Thanksgiving. And he said there were some great sales in the apparel and electronics departments.
"We are driving in some sales with some pretty nice TV deals today," he said.
Joe Southerland, of Youngstown, said it's been three years since he's shopped on Thanksgiving Day, but he just couldn't resist those TV deals.
"I came to get a Sony, but I'm thinking about getting this Sylvania, cause you get one and you get another for $50."
Customer Kat Kortes, of Girard, said it's very unusual for her to shop on the holiday.
"Normally, we stay at home, eat our dinner and just sit around and watch movies or do whatever we want to do," she said.
And while the store appreciates all of the customers who came in on Thanksgiving, they've spent nearly the past month preparing for Black Friday.
"We've been ready for two or three weeks now," Stredney said.
