Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown was in town today for President Obama's visit. He says he spoke with the President about foreign imports, specifically car and truck tires now being imported from China.

Late last week, President Obama approved the imposition of new, higher tariffs on tires to slow imports into this country, which has hurt domestic tire companies. Senator Brown says the tariffs could provide a boost to the local economy, especially for companies here in Ohio. "He's the first President who's stood up to the Chinese on a trade issue in more than a decade. I'm very appreciative because it's gonna mean jobs in Leavittsburg, it's gonna mean jobs at Denman Tire, it's gonna mean jobs at Cooper Tire, it's gonna mean American workers will have more jobs."

For now, the Chinese government has filed a complaint against the President's tariff action with the World Trade Organization. The two nations will now have sixty days to try and hammer out a resolution.
