It appears now the latest attempt to bring legalized casinos to the Valley is dead.

A pair of local lawmakers had introduced measures in both the Ohio House and Senate that would have allowed cities like Youngstown with at least 70,000 people to put local ballot issues before voters to permit new casinos.

The measure would have been attached to a new statewide referendum that would have amended the Ohio Constitution and moved the location of a planned casino in Columbus.

While the Columbus issue will go on the ballot in May, no other language will be included.
