Panera Giving Free Food to First Responders

Panera Bread wants to say thank you to our community heroes.

All firefighters, police officers and emergency medical technicians will receive a free meal on Wednesday when they show their badge at any Panera location in the Mahoning Valley or in Hermitage.

Also, local police officers will be at the Panera Bread at the intersection of Mahoning Avenue and Route 46 in Austintown from to 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday handing out gun locks to promote gun safety.

Why doesn't covelli give the free meals to the people that need it, like the private workers with no pensions and no golden benefits. You know the ones who won't retire in their 40's n 50's and have to for there own retirement when there 67 or 70 yrs old

WKBN page listed that the Austintown Police Dept was going to be handing out free gun locks this morning i called the police dept after waiting in the Panera Bread Austintown location for over 30 minutes only to be told they didnt know what i was talking about. I'm not sure if this was an error on the part of the news room or the police dept. I wasted part of my morning :( there should be a follow-up story done on why the dept failed to have some one here at the time designated.
