The Ohio Crime Scene Unit was at McLaughlin's Painesville home on Wednesday.
Agents could be seen going in and out of his house on Marsh Lane.
The Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigating is working with Canfield Police on the investigation.
Neighbors were surprised to see such as scene at their relatively quiet community. "I mean I knew that we had...I know at our last meeting, they had kicked out, a pedophile out, that was living here. But I didn't know, like he was living here. I think we all should have been notified," said one neighbor.
Authorities are still searching for McLaughlin.
