The salary and benefits package for Youngstown State University's new president was released Tuesday, the same day it was announced Cynthia Anderson will give $100,000 toward new scholarships.
Anderson's three-year contract includes a starting salary of $350,000 with annual raises of $25,000 for the next two years. Anderson will also receive housing through the university. Renovations are being made at the Pollock house on Wick Avenue, which will be her new home.
Also Tuesday, Anderson announced she is donating $100,000 to fund scholarships at YSU. Anderson made the donation in memory of her parents.
"I was blessed with two wonderful parents who instilled in me many values," she said. "Hopefully this scholarship fund will help to provide others with the opportunities and benefits which I have had the privilege to have."
Anderson established the Lawrence R. and Garnet P. Anderson Scholarship Fund after her father died in 2000. Her mother died in 1991.
Anderson will become the school's seventh president on July 1 and will be succeeding David Sweet, who is retiring after 10 years.
