With the cutting of a ribbon, a couple's dream is set into motion.

But why open a new restaurant in the middle of a recession?  The couple started the process about 14 months ago and didn't want the sinking economy to sink their vision.  And then there's the history behind the Golden Rye Grille.

The Golden Rye Grille is named after the Wire Welsh Whiskey distillery that made Golden Rye Whiskey before prohibition.  Part of the restaurant sits on the original distillery property.  It's that history the owners hope will set this breakfast nook apart during the recession.  From old photos on the wall, to relics from days gone by, not only will the Golden Rye be the only breakfast spot in town, it's also a place the couple envisions folks coming in and enjoying a piece of New Middletown's past.

The Golden Rye Grille should be open next week.
