Police found two Mooney High school students dead in a Boardman cemetery Sunday morning.
Around 7 a.m., a patrol officer noticed a parked car inside Forest Lawn Cemetery on Market Street. That's where he found the two male teenagers lying near the car with fatal gunshot wounds.
Police have not identified the two teens, but we do know that one victim is 17 and one is 18, and both were Seniors at Cardinal Mooney High School.
Boardman Police say right now they are actively pursuing the incident as a homicide investigation.
Detective Glen Patton said, "Depending on what kind of evidence we discover, and some of the things that we have found, it could take several weeks, up to a couple months before we find any answers."
Police did discover some evidence at the cemetery, including the gun used in the incident, but they say they're still trying to determine exactly what happened, and that their investigation is far from over.
Mooney High School officials were notified and prayer services were held at the school Sunday for seniors.
Classes at Mooney had been canceled Monday in honor of the state football championship won Friday, but now the school will open at 10:00 a.m. for students to come and grieve. The school is also planning a service for the two victims at 1:00. Grief counselors will also be on hand when classes resume Tuesday.
Anyone that may have information on this case is asked to call Boardman Police at 330-726-4144.
