A man riding a lawnmower received multiple injuries Thursday after being hit by an ATV rider in Warren Township.

According to police and fire reports, at least two ATVs were allegedly drag racing near Potic Drive just before 6 p.m. One of the ATV drivers then hit the lawnmower.

When the fire department arrived, the victim was laying about 20 feet from his lawnmower, and though he was talking had multiple serious injuries. He was taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital then transferred to Cleveland Metro.

The rider who hit the victim fled the scene, and police will likely file charges against the rider Friday.

The police report was not yet complete as of Thursday night, and no names or further details were available.

ATV riders rule Warren Township! ATV's are burglary tools, you see an ATV there's a 98% chance they are going to use it for a fast getaway in a crime. The rule! And 1st choice of scrappers who will act as if they are "Just going for a ride." when really they are just scouting out things they can come back and scrap or pawn. They have gotten me several times, always just below the deductible and what good is a police report then? If ATV rider is not on own or permissive property, they are criminals. WT needs ATV's to get them. So fork up the tax dollars. Any ATV involved in any accident on the road should be cited and the ATV donated to Public service such as Police, Fire, or County fair use. And this is not the 1st ATV accident in the hood!
