Valley Congressman Tim Ryan says despite the devastating impact Monday's bankruptcy filing will have on many communities around the country, he sees a potential silver-lining for the Mahoning Valley.

The Congressman met reporters Monday afternoon just before heading back to Washington.

He admits while the government will provide $30 billion to General Motors to help get it through Chapter 11, he believes not providing that assistance in these uncertain economic times would almost certainly have made matters worse.

Ryan says with other plants shutting down around the country, and Lordstown set to begin building the new "Cruze", companies making parts for plants set to close might consider moving to the Mahoning Valley to land supplier contracts with GM in Lordstown.
