Time's running out to file your taxes and that means a full parking lot for some local tax preparers, but that looming April 15 deadline means more for those who owe than for those who get a refund.

Jennifer Stocker, owner of Liberty Tax Service in Leavittsburg, says, "Filing a tax return on time when you owe means you're not gonna pay high interest and penalties and you won't have a failure to file penalty."

Stocker says many of her clients waited this year out of fear they had to pay the government, adding another bill to their growing pile in this difficult economy.  However, it's better to get your paperwork in than wait.

Stocker says, "If you owe taxes, file your tax return now.  Get it into the IRS hands and then go ahead and start making payment plans or make payments to the government."

While offices are busy with the last minute push, the recession affected the overall traffic this tax season.  The number of people that came to Liberty Tax Service in Leavittsburg is down.  The owner believes that's because more people tried to save a few bucks and do their taxes at home.

If you're not ready to send in your taxes, you still have time to file for an extension.  The IRS expects the number of people who need more time to go up this year to ten million.
