You don't have to be a grinch when it comes to your holiday decorations this year; coming up with inexpensive ideas can be a cinch. Just ask Faith Hall at Pat Catans.

"If you have pictures that are already existing in your home decor, simply take your gift wrap, wrap it like a package, add a little ribbon, bow, maybe a sprig of poinsettia, place it back on your wall and it works into your holiday easy and it keeps your costs low," Hall said.

Or why not decorate with a tub of snow and crystal dust?

"Spread it on like butter," Hall said. "Let it dry and you get this effect. You can turn any every day item into a Christmas project with just two simple elements."

Keep the creative juices flowing in the kitchen as well.

"The kitchen can become a kids in the candy store area," Hall said. "So your cookies can become ornaments for garland. Cookies. Gingerbread men. Candy molds. All of these different items can be not only decorative, they can be gifts when your guests arrive for the holiday season."

If you don't want to make your own decorations, why not stop by a thrift store, like the habitat for humanity Re-store in Struthers? You can pick up things that are already made, including decorations.

Or you can pick up what you need to make your own decorations on the cheap. If you still need help, how about free? In the basement of the Habitat restore sits the Re-create room, where everything is absolutely free! Talk about on a shoe-string--find the craft supplies you need at no cost to you!

"We have egg cartons, styrofoam trays," said Sarah Ellis with Re-create. "Cardboard tubes. A little assortment of Christmas items. Colorful greeting cards. Pictures if you want to make your own sort of collage or gift item for Christmas."

You can also find paint, yarn and fabric. The recreate store is open every Saturday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.
