A church congregation in North Lima is reaching out to inner city residents.
Common Ground Community Church recently purchased the former Mellinger's Nursery in North Lima. The pastor wanted to use all the existing equipment to better the lives of Valley residents, so they started Goodness Grows, which focuses on urban agriculture.
This year, they helped kids on Youngstown's south side grow their own produce. Glen Williams, One Step to Life said, "They was more happy because they was doing something positive. They seen how it was cultivating and coming up. They was happy."
The Rescue Mission is also teaming up with Goodness Grows to cultivate almost 2 acres on the south side.
