A compressor at a natural gas well near Greenville in Mercer County caught fire Friday morning and burned for about three hours, prompting at least one nearby home to be evacuated.

The fire broke out about 4 a.m. at the well operated by Bocor Holdings. The well is located on property at 994 East Jamestown Road in Greene Township.

County officials said nobody was hurt. A production manager for Bocor Holdings said the well draws gas from the Clinton formation nearly a mile below the surface, but said he
could say little about the fire.

The cause has not yet been determined.
