The Mahoning County Republican Party is encouraging support from its members during a rally before a chamber event featuring Gov. John Kasich Thursday.

The Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber luncheon, originally set for Leo's in Howland, was moved to a hangar in the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport due to security and traffic issues this week.

A notification from the Mahoning County GOP Wednesday encourages its members to attend a rally beforehand and "dress warmly and bring your homemade signs of support."

The state is in the midst of a battle between union workers and supporters of Senate Bill 5, which would wipe out collective bargaining for many public workers.

Demonstrations on the bill have drawn tens of thousands to the Statehouse over the two weeks.

Kasich has expressed his support for the bill in concept, but he also has signaled he might offer his own plan that could go even further, including banning public employee strikes.

The notice Wednesday said the new rules are being proposed to "help reign in the growth of government and deal with deficits facing our state and local officials. The new rules included in Senate Bill 5 (SB 5), are designed to give our elected officials who represent you, the taxpayer, more latitude in dealing with public employee unions."

The notice said local Democrats are planning to turn out anti-Kasich protesters at the event.

To prepare, the notice said there will be a sign-making party at the Mahoning County Republican Headquarters in Boardman 7 p.m. Wednesday. It's encouraging attendees to bring their signs Thursday.

There were originally 400 tickets sold for the actual chamber event. It's not clear if more are available due to the venue change.

"Remember, this is not about the good work done by public employees," the notice states. "It is about giving our local and state officials the tools they need to manage budgets and control government spending."

Kasich, if you don't like being called a teabagger, perhaps you would prefer to be called a Kochsucker.

Which Corporate billionaire owns you-Mr. Kasich? Which one are you working so hard for? It is not for the people of Ohio. Your campaign contributors, and the Elephant in the room..are the Corporate tax cuts for your owners...it is pretty clear in the light..."We the people" will not stand by while you play Monopoly..with our money..and us being the pawns for your greedy game. YOU will be held responsible someday..in someway..sounds like you will be happy to read your name in the history books..as part of the Crash of the U.S.A.-and our world as we know it-the total economic collapse-all documented-due to greed. Sad fact. Not something to be proud of for your children...

This Bill is an attack on unions but it is also an attack on the middle class workers within comminitees throughout our State. These are the workers who care for and educate our children so that they will have a chance for a successful future. They are the workers who run into the burning building to save our loved ones. The workers who ensure our safety on the streets and in our homes. They are also the workers who spend their hard earned money in local stores and businesses. What happens to a community when its people cannot afford to spend money there? Or when the tax base is cut because workers are earning less and paying more for their healthcare? Why don't we change what is really costing the State and the entire country megamillions. Let's regulate insurance premiums so that insurance companies are not the only ones benefitting from the current system.

SB5 attacks all workers in Ohio, not just union members. Everyone who is willing to work, deserves a fair day's pay for a fair day's work. All workers and their families have a right to enjoy the American Dream. Union pay scale props up the wages of all workers. Republicans, Independents, & Democrats deserve a workplace free of safety hazards, a living wage, good benefits, and hope for a secure retirement. Gov. Kasich gave his staff a raise, yet wants the working class to take a cut while losing their right to bargain. When elected officials do not follow the will of the voters and when they break campaign promises they should be fired. Being elected means a candidate has been hired by the voter/employer. When the elected official/employee doesn't implement the agenda voted upon, they need to be fired. Ohio needs a recall amendment and they need it fast!

I am a nurse who takes care of our Veterans. Veterans who fought for our freedoms that we all enjoy and now our goverment things it's ok to take those very freedoms away from us because they think they can. Alot of men and woman have died for those freedoms. I love my job but I have earned my right for fair wages and benifits. Don't let a few men take away our American right to negotiate. It's our right as a free nation to stand up for what we beleive in. Our children need our teachers to make us competative for future generations, Our Police and Firepersons are needed for our safety, and I am needed to care for those who gave us our freedoms. God is watching over this country and I am sure he is saddened by the way a few of his children and treating the millions of his low and middle class wage earning citizens. The Bible speaks about the fall of America from his grace and I see that happening each day. I will pray God watch's over those politions who care very little for their citizens who appointed them to lead the way.

I am a teacher and I am frustrated. I am not frustrated about change but frustrated about the way it is coming about. I cannot understand why it is leading to hatred and an even more political split. I would not say that I belong to political party. In all honesty I have voted for candidates from both sides. Why is it that we have no compromise. Both parties are being pushed farther apart. The bill is extreme, but the stays quo is not working. Let's work together instead of losing sight of others views.
