According to the Wall Street Journal, General Motors is expected to name veteran turnaround executive Al Koch to head the restructuring of the American auto maker.

The advisory firm executive is expected to take the post when GM files for Chapter 11 early Monday morning in New York.

Koch has been meeting with GM's top management since December.  He'll oversee the break-up of the company into a government sponsored "New GM."  Koch has worked on other high-profile bankruptcies including K-Mart Corporation.
