Wendell August Forge executives announced Friday that they signed an option agreement to purchase six acres of land adjacent to the Grove City Prime Outlets in Grove City.
The land has not been purchased and the option agreement gives the company six months to determine if the property will meet the forge's needs. They said they hope to build their new flagship store on this land, which will also include an interactive history center, workshop, distribution center and administrative offices.
The original headquarters, flagship store and workshop were destroyed March 6 in a fire.
In a prepared statement, Will Knecht, president of Wendell August Forge, said, "This is by far the best option that keeps us in Grove City."
The property is currently owned by Gary and Rebecca Filer. It is located behind the Elephant and Castle Restaurant.
Wendell August Forge has been operating its workshop and offices out of a temporary site in Grove City. The flagship store is temporarily located at 1605 South Center Street Extension.
