A Los Angeles-based film crew spent Tuesday morning at the Boardman Police Department.

The were in town to shoot part of their movie called "Shoplifting from American Apparel." The scene included an officer taking a suspect into custody.

The movie is based off a popular novel by the same name.

"It's about a guy who shoplifts from American Apparel and then gets arrested," said Pirooz Kalayeh, of Sangha Films. "Then we go back and forth between the making of the movie and then what actually happens and the novel it's based on."

The crew also shot a movie in Youngstown last year. That movie was based on "The Human War," written by local author Noah Cicero.
