Mary Beth Cunningham spent years as director of Delphi's global operations...now she is helping direct the fight of hundreds of local Delphi salaried employees.

"We are the people who helped build this company and we expect our company to their promise to us," Cunningham told the crowd.

Cunningham and her husband Chuck, joined about two-hundred other salaried Delphi retirees rallied Thursday in the company's North River Road parking lot. The retirees are urging government and judicial officials to protect their pensions during the company's sale process.

In April the retirees lost their health care and now may lose a significant amount of their pensions in Delphi's planned sale to investment firm Platinum Equity.

"Where is the hope for us if our pensions are gone," said Chuck Cunningham.  "This government talks about equality but where is the equality if one group gets fully funded and the other gets nothing."

The retirees say they are pleased with the U.S. Bankruptcy court's hearing earlier this week which will allow other companies to bid and challenge the government-brokered sale to Platinum Equity.  But the ruling will not stop the retirees from contacting lawmakers and company and court officials.

Another rally is planned for Friday at Delphi's headquarters in Troy, Michigan.
