The head of the Youngstown Business Incubator has been named a "Difference Maker in NE Ohio" by Crain's Cleveland Business, the incubator announced in a release Friday.

Jim Cossler, CEO for the incubator, was the only representative from the Mahoning Valley on this year's list, the release states.

Every year, the magazine picks 10 people whose work is transforming the region.

"Jim's work at the incubator has not only helped to redevelop our downtown, it's brought a lot of positive media attention to the community," said Garry L. Mrozek, chairman of the incubator's board of directors. "I'm proud to work with him and glad that he has been recognized for the contributions that he's making to Youngstown and the rest of Northeast Ohio."

The incubator is a 501-c3 organization in downtown Youngstown whose mission is to facilitate the creation of high value businesses through collaborative partnerships that promote innovative technologies, the release states.

It currently is home to nine portfolio companies that are developing information technology applications, ranging from health care and commercial landscaping to advanced manufacturing applications.
