The man and woman found dead in a Sebring home Tuesday were electrocuted, according to the Mahoning County Coroner's Office.

Police said Douglas Strother, 41, was trying to manipulate lighting in the ceiling when he was electrocuted. Police said Tina McGarvey, 40, tried to pull him away from the lamp when she was also caught in the electric current.

Police responded to the home on West Texas Avenue about 10 p.m. Tuesday to reports of two dead bodies found in the basement.

"It was for the report of two deceased bodies found in the basement of the residence," said Det. Mark Lowman. "Responding officers located a white male and white female on the basement floor in close proximity to each other."
