The Trumbull County Coroner's Office said Friday alcohol may have been involved in an accident that killed a Girard dispatcher early Wednesday.

Thomas Zuppo, 47, crashed into the back of an Ohio Department of Transportation salt truck on Interstate 80 just after midnight Wednesday. According to reports, he was heading eastbound in Austintown when he slammed into the truck.

Zuppo's car was lodged underneath and then caught fire. The driver of the ODOT truck was not injured. Police previously said speed was also a factor in the crash.

The coroner can not issue a final ruling until toxicology results are finished in six to eight weeks.
