A Mercer County woman admitted to police that she left her newborn son to "fall through the cracks" before he died.

Michael Rabold, 24, and Royanne Darr, 22, both of Greenville, have been charged with homicide. Authorities said 8-week-old Isaac Rabold was malnourished when he died in January.

Officials said the baby suffered from hypothermia, bed sores and a rash. The couple is also charged with endangering the welfare of children for failing to feed their 15-month-old son.

They also have a 2-year-old. Darr told authorities it was "hard to care for three children."

Ok maybe this couple was lazy. but just to let you know things are not always what they look like and how they are portrayed on the news. I love the fact that both the parents are in trouble. I had a case where I as a new mom married and interracial couple in an all white town, got accused of starving my newborn baby when she was diagnosed with a thyroid condition, and with my husband being white and me being black i was the only one in trouble. DCFS has the power to slander you say what they want about you...all because they can. But yet they sent my baby home with me but yet it was alleged I neglected my baby because I'm of color and it was assumed I'm a single mom living in poverty all through my pregnancy the nurses would judge me and ask if i get welfare or food stamps and urged me to go sign up for it and because I didn't reapply for wic because I didn't meet the income requirements, then wic lied and said i was showing up at appointments when i never had one. Yet my name goes on a list. I breastfed and supplemented and I come from a wealthy family and my husbands family have a family owned construction company. So I dont know people with authority twist words up in all types of ways you cant even imagine.

tornadogirl-bad news, they will not get life in prison either. In a sane, normal world they would but we have judges and lawyers so my guess is 5-10 years for some kind of plea bargain. Hope I'm wrong but she will cry to the judge and her lawyer will show that when she was young she got her mouth washed out with soap for cussing or something.

I've got an idea - QUIT HAVING THEM THEN! There are many ways to prevent pregnancy and lots of them are free!

Where does the economy even enter into it? At 8 weeks, breastfeeding a newborn is free! Of course a lowlife person like her would never have the patience to breastfeed; but the point is that there is absolutely NO excuse to starve a baby. None. Those who can't breastfeed for some reason can get free baby formula from WIC. Sickening!

1805ugh- In Mercer County, they DO have services to help people that are struggling, including specialized home nurses for young parents. The key is asking for help. But one can't ask for help if they have something to hide, these people would, by law, report it to authorities. This mother's plea about how hard it is to have 3 children disgusts me- she had 3 in a very short amount of time and I have to ask why. Did the welfare check go up when she had another? If she were on drugs, her baby would have been born addicted, so services should have been in place there, as well. Raising kids IS hard- you know what is easy? TAKING BIRTH CONTROL! This situation is sad, no matter how you look at it- a child is dead, two more are scarred for life, and the extended family is left wondering what they could have done to stop this. The only people to blame for this is the two morons arrested for it- and they are just throwing excuses. How typical.

I can't tell you how angry this makes me!!! These idiots will end up not getting death but will get life in prison...which means three meals a day, free education, air conditioning, cable tv, and probably early release due to over crowding. I say lock them in a room with nothing till they starve to death and then take out the trash!!!
