John Brown of Youngstown, the national commander of the AMVETS organization spoke to the Joint Special Committee on Veterans' Affairs in Washington today.
He briefly mentioned the murder of Major Karl Hoerig a year ago in Newton Falls, and the flight of Hoerig's wife Claudette to Brazil, asking lawmakers to work with the US Justice Department to seek extradition of Mrs. Hoerig back to this country.

The Brazilian government has been unwilling to return Hoerig's wife, out of concern she might face the death penalty -- which has been outlawed in her native land.
