A trio of executives from the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce will travel to China November 1 in the hopes of attracting new business to the Mahoning Valley.
Chamber President and CEO Tom Humphries, Vice President Eric Planey, and board member Florence Wang will spend 15 days in China and Taiwan. They'll visit with private industry and government officials in the city of Shanghai and the Shandong Province in China and the city of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. They will meet with traditional manufacturing companies as well as renewable energy companies that are thinking of locating facilities in the U.S.
Planey, who joined the Chamber in July and heads up national/international business attraction, says, "This is the beginning of the execution of a coherent international strategy for the Chamber and the Mahoning Valley. We want to put ourselves in a position that when Chinese corporations expand into overseas markets, that the Youngstown-Warren area will be on their radar as a logical destination for their American operations."
