Bikers from Michigan, and across the midwest, make a stop in the Valley on their 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Run to New York City.
This is the 10th year for the original 9/11 Memorial Run. It all started with two brothers who took the first ride to Ground Zero just days after the 9/11 attacks. Since then, the group has grown into a non-profit organization, raising money for many different charities and citizens in need. Co-founder Harry Pressel said hundreds of people take the ride every year, picking up more and more bikes as they get closer to New York.
"We have people that are doctors, lawyers, policemen, firemen. We have people from New York that are firemen that met us here today to ride back to New York with us. So, it's quite a mixed group, and it's young and old, male and female," Pressel explained.
The group will leave from the Comfort Inn at Route 46 and I-80 Thursday at 9:11 a.m. Thousands of bikes will be escorted past Ground Zero, when they arrive in New York City on Saturday.
