Northern Iowa (9-1) outscored Wyoming in the second half by seventeen points to win the first annual Mountain West Conference-Missouri Valley Conference Challenge, 72-54, at UNI's McLeod Center. The Panthers held a one point lead, 34-33, after the first twenty minutes. UNI was led by the seven foot senior center Jordan Eglseder who had 28 points and 9 rebounds.
Wyoming's freshman guard Desmar Jackson scored 12 points on 5 of 10 shooting from the field in 23 minutes. The Cowboys drop to 6-6 on the season. The former Warren Harding standout is averaging 8.7 points and 1.8 assists per game. Jackson led the Cowboys in scoring with 22 on November 27 in a loss to Monmouth, 75-73.
The Cowboys will be off until next Wednesday (December 30) when they play host to the Akron Zips.
