Valerie Smock, is a video journalist with many talents including live reporting in the morning, anchoring, and producing. Valerie joined WKBN in 2008. She received her bachelor’s degree in 2005 from Kent State University in Broadcast Journalism. After working for two years at KFBB and KRTV in Great Falls, Montana, Valerie returned to Ohio. She will attend Mississippi State University in the fall of 2008 for Meteorology.
Valerie is a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard. Serving as Military Police, she spent time in Missouri, Virginia, Germany and Kuwait. As a part of her church, Valerie has also traveled to Tennessee, West Virginia, and Kentucky with the Appalachia Service Project. This project gave her the opportunity to assist families helping them rebuild their homes. She is a published poet and belongs to the International Society of Poets. Valerie also enjoys golfing, skiing, traveling, but her love is writing poetry.
