A local act is making its debut on national television Wednesday night, and they need your votes to make sure they win.
Jewone Franklin, who goes by the stage name “Yung Monsta,” grew up on the East Side of Youngstown. He’s collaborating with Shirjoma Jacobs of the Cleveland area and will appear on “106 and Park,” BET’s highest-rated music series.
Their manager was a mutual friend and got them together. The opportunity could not only give them exposure, but also $10,000.
“I’ve done a few things in the past, and I really want to take it to that next level,” said Franklin. “This is a big step for me and my career. It’s just TV is TV, you know? It’s always great to be on TV.”
The duo will be performing Wednesday at 6 p.m. Their success is based on votes, which can be sent through the “106 and Park” app or by texting the number that will appear on the screen during the show.
Another local act, DJ Bandcamp, also appeared on the show recently.
